THE PURPOSE OF THE SOCIETYThe Norwegian Scotch Malt Whisky Society is dedicated to enlightening Norwegian Society with the pleasure of superior Whisky.
BACKGROUND
Mr. Finn Atle Haldorsen and Mr. Marc Berntssen were in the same company one evening and came to talk about how much they enjoyed Scotch Malt Whisky. The former suggested that one should start a Whisky Club so the patrons could have an official excuse to drink Whisky once in a while.
And so it was that Mr. Haldorsen arranged the first meeting of the Norwegian Scotch Malt Whisky Society on 29 September 1998. All founding members (some never to be seen again!) eventually agreed on Articles of Association whose main mission was the enlightening of Norwegian society of superior Scotch Malt Whisky.

WHISKIES
Over the years, hundreds of different single malt whiskies have been sampled at members meetings. Because not all information, especially age and ABV, was recorded at meetings, the same whisky might be stored as two (or more) different whiskies. Non of the lists of whiskies sampled are complete because the minutes between March 2009 and March 2017 are not available.

MEETINGS
We meet once a month to enjoy some superior Whisky in good company. Members take it in turn to be host of the evening and introduce the members to a new single malt whisky, and give a short recitation on a subject connected to whisky or Scotland.
