MINUTES from meeting #21
The 21st meeting of the Norwegian Scotch Malt Whisky Society was held at the abode of Mr. Paal Bjaarstad on Friday 26 August 2000.
As usual the members' discussions covered a wide variety of subjects not all that different from previous meetings, and will therefore not be further commented upon.
Various whiskies were supplied by members to be sampled at the meeting. The panels evaluation of the products are listed below (the bourbon was not evaluated as members pointed out it was not a Scotch Whisky, and by the looks on peoples faces, it had a very different taste from Scotch Whisky).
The host provided some excellent snacks that were enjoyed by the members.
Having concluded the official part of the meeting, the host lead the way toward the center of Bergen where Spain had laid on a laser show to celebrate the signing of a contract between Norway and Spain where the latter party is to supply the Norwegian Royal Navy with a number of new frigates. Mr. Bjaarstad together with Mr. Handal, who happens to be employed by the said navy, were very impressed by the show. Having evaluated the show, Mr. Haldorsen, Mr. Augestad, Mr. Valland and Mr. Jaunsen quickly sought out establishments where refreshments could be purchased, including the nightclub at Hotel Norge, the pub "The Scotsman" and "Ludvig", the bar at Hotel Neptun.
