MINUTES from meeting #22
The 22nd meeting of the Norwegian Scotch Malt Whisky Society was held at Mr. Willy Hauge's abode on September 29, 2000.

The following whiskies were tasted:

Whisky of the Night:
Ardbeg, Limited 1975 Edition, 43%

Others:
Bruichladdich, 10 years old, 43%
Longmorn, 15 years old, 45%
Bowmore, 12 years old, 40%
Laphroaig

Mr. Willy Hauge gave a speech on The Whisky of the Night. Among other facts, he mentioned that Ardbeg is one of the Islay whiskies, and that it is one of the three distilleries called the Kildalton distilleries. The other ones are Laphroaig and Lagavulin. The distillery was closed between 1981 and 1989. The distillery has distilled legally since 1815, but started in the 1790s. The distillery was owned by the MacDougalls until 1976. It was then sold to Allied. The distillery was bought by Glenmorangie for GBP 7 million, after outbidding eight other rival distilleries.

After the tasting, the the marks (above) were given.

The food was chicken salad, ham salad and snacks.

A variety of subjects were discussed, and Mr. Haldorsen hosted his usual WWII quiz. Mr. Bjaarstad and Mr. Haldorsen also entertained themselves and the others with an arm wrestling competition.

It was also decided that during the next meeting a name should be chosen for each member, under which they will be known in the Society in the future. The name should be choosen by the other members.
