MINUTES from meeting #26

This meeting was also the Society's AGM, and several issues were put to the floor. However, before things got out of hand, the host, Mr Dag Handal, generously presented the Whisky of the Night, so that thirsty members were able to wet their palates and prepare for hours and hours of highly intelligent deliberations ...

This month's Whisky of the Night was the
Balvenie Doublewood 12 years (43%)

Mr Haldorsen advised the members present that he had aquired a new domain on behalf of the Society: SMWS.NO Mr Jaunsen said he would get back to Mr Haldorsen at a later date, in order to link his present homepage (ie the Society's) to the SMWS.NO. He would further inform Mr Haldorsen on what to do with the site.

Down to business - the AGM:
Mr and Mrs Haldorsen arrived with two Power of Attorney's on behalf of members not present, thus increasing the number of valid votes from 7 to 9.

1.	The GM gave her speach, from which the most important single issue was that she wished to stand down, as she had not been much present recently (for obvious reasons). The members hailed her effort for the Society as well as her dedication to the cause.
2.	Election of the new Executive Committee:
	Grand Master		Mr Andreas Gerald Sutherland Jaunsen (with a round of applause)
	Secretary		Mr Paal Bjaastad
	Cashier		Mr Marc Berntsen
	Web Master		Mr Andreas Gerald Sutherland Jaunsen
	The introduction of a permanent position as Web Master means a change to the Articles of Association. It was at this point in time also decided that from now on the host of the Society's meetings would be writing the Minutes, hence Yours Truly performing the art!
3.	Proposed changes to the Articles of Assocoation:
a)		It is forbidden for members to invite spouses/girl-/boyfriend as new member unless unanimously agreed by all existing members. Mr Haldorsen did not wish to see this as a husband/wife club, hence the proposal. Mr Bjaastad proposed a modified version which said that as long as two thirds of the members agreed, then spouses etc could be invited. Mr Bjaastad's proposal was then put to vote, and was carried unanimously.
b)		Women may not be members of the Society This motion was put forward by Mr Valland, who unfortunately was not present to defend his motion. The idea of not having female members outraged the members present this evening, particularly the outgoing Grand Master. The motion was denied by 8 votes to 1.
c)		Male members should wear bowties, but may also wear a tie, as long as the tie has some relationship to Scotland, whisky or the Society. 8 votes were in favour, 1 abstained. It was further decided that the host is responsible for providing a digital photo of the labels of the whiskys sampled.
4.	Trip to Scotland This is difficult to arrange due to many of the members having small kids. However, it will be looked into at a later stage. Meanwhile, a dinner has been proposed for the members in Bergen. Mr Valland has put the suggestion forward, and the members responded favourably. To be decided when.
5.	Any other issues. None were raised.

In addition to the Whisky of the Night, the following whiskys were sampled:
Black Barrel Single Grain (W. Grant & Son) 43%
Chivas Regal 12 years 40%

Points for the whiskies given are listed above.

The following discussions centered on the topic of anal sex, the pleasures of this activity and who has done what to whom. Needless to say, Mr Haldorsen was a very active and inspired discussionleader for the entire remainer of the evening. Mr Bjaastad came forward with the shocking revelation that he really liked/preferred Arab girls (and ditto music to go with it ...)
